Peer-To-Peer Depression Awareness

The Peer-to-Peer Depression Awareness program was developed to help raise awareness of depressive illnesses, reduce the stigma of depression, and increase the likelihood of early detection and help-seeking among students.  Peer-to-Peer team members use their leadership skills and knowledge to help create a culture of caring and support in their school, by implementing a public awareness campaign.

Trails Program

TRAILS groups are offered periodically throughout the school year by both counseling and social work staff.  TRAILS is a skills group for students experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. The group will focus on strategies to support emotional health and enable healthy sleep, good social relationships, and optimal academic achievement. Research indicates that students with solid self-awareness and good coping skills do better academically and socially during their school years and beyond.

Grief Group

Typically once a year, the counseling and social work staff provide a 8-10 week grief support group to students.  The group is designed to help students who have experienced the death of someone significant to them.  In Grief Group, there will be the opportunity to do activities, talk about grief experiences; learn ways to cope and to be with others who understand what it’s like to have someone die.  This group is not therapy or counseling, it is a way to connect with other students who are grieving and support each other.
